Analysis of the effectiveness of a new flight diverter in different bird species

The collision of birds with power lines affects a large number of bird species. The use of bird protection devices on power lines to avoid collision is widespread around the world, because of its proven effectiveness in reducing the death of birds.

The aim of this project is to test scientifically the effectiveness of a new model of flight diverter device, blade-shaped pendant and reflective light to increase its visibility, because first results had been inconclusive.

We will selected a power line where the bird protection blade will be placed along with other known efficacy and we will registered data of collisions, abundance and density of birds with a standard methodology developed by REE, Technical Assistance KEY S.L., and the CSIC.
